Default Salary for Group Training Manager

    Hi

Can anyone point me in the right direction on where I could find info Training & Development Salaries?

I was recently given a new direct report, who was promoted to a new position of Group Training Manager. This position covers both AU & NZ training and development. In addition to the substantial workload arising from the development and implementation of the projects portion of the role, the travel required for Training is quite extensive, which is only exacerbated by fulfilling the requirements of all departments/divisions we have.

    Any direction would be beneficial.

    Thanks

If after free info, best place would be Salary Guide | Australia jobs and recruitment | Hays - Recruiting experts worldwide. Note that this doesn't take into account too much the size of companies etc so is a one size fits all and should be taken as such.

Otherwise you are looking at paying for specialised salary information from Hays, Mercer or any other number of smaller offerings to get more specific info

    Hi DanB

Have a look at the Government websites specifically for training and development. You will find different Job Specifications and the levels at which they differ. As for travel expenses that would either be covered under a common law contract, an Award, a company policy or an EBA (which I would doubt covers your Group Training Manager). As for Hays they are a recruitment agency who do their own surveys for which not every sector participates and nothing more. Most of these salary guides give information on Job roles as they are based on the level of experience in the particular role.

    Good Luck.

There are free sources from recruiters, such as Hays (mentioned by Cottoneyes). However, these are rather general in nature - salary surveys produced by recruiters are marketing tools in my opinion, rather than reliable data sources.

If you need a more accurate benchmark you'll also need to take into account the industry or industries against which you wish to compare - financial services firms will probably pay a lot higher than government for a role of a similar size and complexity. The size of your organisation will also play a factor - i.e. a Group Training Manager for an ASX Top 20 firm will doubtless pay more than a Group Training Manager at a firm of a couple of hundred staff.

One of the professional services firms will be able to provide you with a suitable benchmark (at a fee of course!), taking into account the factors I suggested, and more. Try Aon Hewitt, Mercer or Hay Group (not to be confused with Hays!) Aon Hewitt publish their remuneration survey position descriptions on their website. Try the following link for starters...... (Disclosure: I'm a former Aon Hewitt employee so lean towards them!) They have Learning and Development specialists in their HR job family: Positions By Job Family

    I hope that helps.
    Paul
