Psych Degree- where to from here?

I have recently graduated with a bachelor of psychology and I am interested in getting into the field of Human resources. So far, I have been applying for entry level assistant etc. roles without much luck. I was wondering if it would be useful for me to undertake a course like a cert IV of Human Resources to help me get me foot in the door. I am a bit conflicted as to what to do as a person currently working in HR has told me that my degree is enough but I need to get some work experience, but I seem to be unable to get a job without having experience already, I was hoping some other people with a background in the field could give me some insight into what I should try to do. is the cert IV in HR a good idea or is there a better route of further study to take?
