Default Pressure for longer paid maternity leave is building

At the recent Productivity Commission inquiry into parental leave, the Women's Action Alliance proposed a classless Government funded maternity leave system. Although it won't provide sufficient income for many women, it's a step in the right direction.

The Commission also heard submissions from the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) and the Australian Breastfeeding Association.
