Both Myer and Aldi have recently announced the introduction of paid Maternity Leave, in Myer's case 6 weeks and Aldi 14 weeks at 50% pay (effectively 7 weeks). These are welcome but bold decisions for employers with a very high percentage of female staff.
This can only help Myer and Aldi in the competition to attract talent and will inevitably have a knock-on effect throughout both the retail sector and other industries. It will be interesting to see who the early adopters are in other industries.
