Default Strong Labor Demands Reflected In Job Ad Numbers

New figures indicate a surge in the number of jobs advertised both in major metropolitan newspapers and the internet. Despite hitting a trough in August 2007, demand for labour remains very strong.

The total number of advertisements in December last year was 31% higher than 12 months ago. Internet job ads alone grew 7.4% to an average of 253,361 per week.

Economists say that overall, the Australian economy had retained considerable momentum and that tight labour market conditions are likely to continue over the coming year.

The original article from The Age provides further details on previous job ad trends and professional insight to the future of the Australian economy.
