Aussie Employment Law Update

Hi all

I have been working and living in the UK for a number of years now in various HR roles and I am contemplating coming home sometime in the next year or so. As there have been so many changes to the IR/ER system since I've been away I'd really like to geta quick refresher/update which covers things from a legal standpoint. Any suggestions?

Hi Nick,

It will be great if someone does know of a single source for this information but don't be surprised if they don't (because I don't think such a thing exists).

I think it's fair to say that most of us who work in HR locally in Australia are struggling to keep up with the changes. Administering workplace agreements (AWAs) and whatever the Rudd Government are replacing them with has almost become a job for a specialist lawyer.

If you steer clear of employers that have lots of AWAs in place that will help
