Industrial Relations training? - HR Buzz

Hi,

I am based in Sydney and have been a HR generalist for 10 years. I am looking to specialise in the area of Industrial Relations.

Can anyone provide advice on training programs that I may be able to do? I am happy to do something via correspondence, but my preference is for in class.

Your in luck. As part of my consultancy I have set up a Industrial Relations Training Academy. Current courses are Workplace Bullying, Defending Unfair Dismissal, Negotiation Skills, Union Relationship training, Conducting Workplace investigations. More courses will come on line during 2011. The Union relationship course is the most intensive and covers several modules, in particular, teaches HR reps and managers exactly what they CAN do under the FWA.

As you can see I am based in Brisbane but happy to travel and run courses interstate if there are sufficient numbers. Let me know what you are specifically interested in and see what I can arrange.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. I'm looking for a qualification I can do over a period of time rather than running in house training. I have had experience with IR type matters in the past. I think I am looking for more about the history of IR in Australia, detail about frameworks used and general legal requirements.

No worries. I have commenced work on registering as RTO, adapting courses for accreditation etc but that takes time. I have a Bachelor in IR but nothing beats on the ground experience. It will give you the basics but time and a good mentor are the key. Happy to assist at any stage. Cheers.
