Hi. I am new in Sydney and looking for voluntary or temporary assignments in HR to gain Australian local experience. I am an MBA in HR with 4 years experience as HR Officer handling various Human Resource functions in India and the UAE. It would be of great help to me if I could get suggestions on how to go about with it.
No other way of doing it other than contacting companies directly and seeing how you go. Things I'd suggest include:
- a phonecall followed by an email/letter is a reasonable way of doing it;
- just a plain email is not the best, too easy for a company to delete it;
- make sure each approach you personalise it, balancing out quality with quantity;
- make them aware of your commitment upfront (i.e. to volunteer);
