We're a small business, we have a number of guys working with us who are friends and who live with each other.

One of them is getting increasingly negative, bad mouthing us, encouraging them to not sign the new contracts and generally being bad apple at home and in office.

The contracts were updated to bring into line with Modern Awards and NES, to outline commission structures etc.

The individual is a good sales person, I don't want to lose him, but it's breeding a bit of bad feeling.

Any suggestions on how best to handle this?

It sounds like quite an unusual situation in that these guys live with one another, but it makes it rather awkward.

Maybe to start with you should have a private chat with this guy and ask him why he is doing it. Find out what his problem is, why he feels the need to be so negative, and how he thinks that is going to help.

Agree with Moz. give him the opportunity to air whatever issues he has in a controlled environment.....then make it clear that his behaviour is not acceptable and that if it continues then he will be placed on a performance management plan which has consequences for his actions.....

Thanks for the help.

Had the conversation with him, let's just say I resolved it.
