Workplace Relations Minister Bill Shorten has vowed to press ahead with plans to ensure companies face new reporting obligations on disabled workers next year, despite the ASX Corporate Governance Council telling him it was “inappropriate” for the council to act on the issue.

Mr Shorten, Federal Disability Commissioner Graeme Innes and the Australian Human Resources Institute have been lobbying the ASX council to issue a recommendation that all listed companies report on the number of disabled people they employ, in a bid to encourage employers to hire people with disabilities.
