We have it on good authority that an employee (a FT truck driver) has lost there license yet is refusing to admit this.

Anyone had any experience with this as the employmetn contract is silent yet clearly is a requirement of the role they fulfil.

Don't single that driver out, but instead do an audit on all (or a group of) drivers?

Are they still driving your truck?

You have an OH&S responsibility to ensure they are licenced to do this type of work, so use that as an excuse to conduct the audit.

Having been a fleet manager as part of a previous role, I initiated a process where every 2 years the employees had to sign off on the company policy for use of motor vehicles and provide details of their licence as well. Had a few whingers about it but got complete compliance with it, no one got the keys to any company vehicle without it being signed off.
