Hi all,

I am an experienced HR professional wanting to start looking for my next career move. Traditionally I have always found myself roles on on-line job boards, but with the way the economy is going there aren't a lot of roles that I am interested in taking up. I would like to register with a trusted and professional agency does anyone have any suggestions?

Many thanks,

D

I think that there are a number of specialist agencies that work with HR people however the level of service you will get depends on the relationships formed with the consultant that you get. Like any business, their service is only as good as the person you deal with (even though some agencies will have more integrity than others).

Where are you based? Perhaps if you advise the forum where you are located, people can share the names of people they would recommend in your region.

If you are in Qld, I would be happy to share the names and details of people I have worked with and found to be very good operators.

Hi D

I can highly recommend The Next Step (http://www.thenextstep.com.au/)for any HR professional seeking their next opportunity. Excellent consultants, reputation and knowledge of the HR market.

They have offices in Melbourne, Sydney and more recently in Brisbane.

Good luck!

Hi WayneH,

Sorry I totally disagree with you I have been registered with The Next Step of over 3 years. I have never been contacted nor put forward for a role. I went to make an appointment to re connect with them and they were full booked out until the new yeat.

I recommend HR Partners.

Being an ex recruiter myself, I can say it is impossible to keep everyone happy. There are always candidates who "slip through the cracks", especially given that many agencies will have tens of thousands of candidates on their database.

It's important to stay "front of mind" with the recruiters you deal with, because despite all the money recruitment agencies spend on databases it is more likely that a recruiter will think of the people they have interviewed recently, rather than the people they interviewed 6 months ago or longer. So if you see an agency advertise a role that looks good for you, don't wait for them to call you, give them a call, make sure they at least consider you.

Hi, I have had very good experiences with The Next Step, and would also suggest HR Partners.

Hi,

I am yet to find a good agency. Everything I have done so far was without the assistance of agencies. I am registered with about 10 agencies in Brisbane, send them a mail once every 3 months to update them about my situation etc.

If I was unqualified with no experience I might have understood this but I am not!
