http://www.shortlistonline.com.au reported today that AHRI are to release their own job board for HR.

"hrcareers.com.au" or HRjobs I believe..

The test site has been discovered and not protected by any security...

What do you guys think? as for the technology - it looks like they are using joomla CMS and also the recruitment plugin (the CMS is free and VERY prone to hacking).

Nothing new really, poor system choice!

Oh no, not another job board! The recruitment advertising market is becoming so fragmented.

This fragmentation drives up recruitment costs because employers and recruiters will need to advertise in more and more places. Of course they can’t afford to advertise everywhere so job seekers will have to monitor an increasing number of job boards and other media to avoid missing an opportunity.

If AHRI had done something like this a couple of years ago it would have been worthwhile, but there is already a very effective specialist HR job board – Jobs in HR (http://www.jobsinhr.com.au) – who also happen to be the main sponsors of this forum (another thing that AHRI now plans to duplicate).

I don’t really see how this can benefit AHRI members. At the end of the day no one in their right mind would not advertise an HR job on Seek and Jobs in HR - between them they cover so much of the market already. A third offering from AHRI just creates yet another place employers and recruiters feel compelled to advertise.

Looking at the AHRI development site more closely it appears that it’s not only targeting HR jobs. They have sections for Accounting, Banking and Financial Services, Community, Sport & Leisure, Construction Building and Architecture, Customer Service and Call Centre. It’s looking like a full on job board!

Serge Sardo, AHRI’s CEO, told Shortlist (http://www.shortlist.net.au/), -

"the new site would spell the end of AHRI's relationship with SEEK, which until now has been the exclusive provider of jobs content on the AHRI website.”

"Essentially the partnership with SEEK was just a referral link, so we’ll be taking it on ourselves and doing specialist HR recruitment."

I wonder what “doing specialist recruitment” means ? - are they going to start a recruitment business as well ?

As for their choice of technology, it’s based on Joomla, a freeware content management package. This is all very well if you’re developing an amateur non commercial site which doesn’t hold sensitive information, but given sites like Monster and MyCareer have experienced security breaches I would have grave concerns about the security of a Joomla based site.

Just to top it off, Sardo also says they might offer video resumes - it's beginning to sound like JobX (http://www.jobx.com.au/)!
