Greetings,

The organisation that I am working for is considering allowing employees to draw down on outstanding annual leave entitlements during their notice periods and if employees have sufficient annual leave allowing them to leave immediately.

Can you please advise if this is best practice

sorry for the late reply on this.

Ok, it's less a position of "what is a best practice", and more of a position of "what suits this business at this time right now?"

I have been more than happy at times to let employees leave early. Other employees, we have required them to work their notice periods. Many people "switch off" the moment they put in their notice, and it is often a better business decision for them to leave early, if not straight away, then to perform at an unsatisfactory level for 4 weeks or so.

Usually the decisions are made on a case by case basis.
